The gift that gives back
print friendly

A Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA) is a simple concept: part charitable gift, part annuity.  Funded by your contribution, the CGA provides fixed annuity payments to you for life and a gift to the charity(ies) of your choice.  A portion of your contribution is tax-deductible, and a portion of your annuity is tax-free.  If you wish, you can have the annuity payments go to a family member or friend instead.

How it works:

  • A CGA is actually an agreement between you and NCF.  You agree to make a gift of cash or publicly traded securities to CFT (minimum $10,000).

  • We agree to pay you a fixed amount for the rest of your life or for a specified period of time.  These payments can be made quarterly, semi-annually or annually.  You can choose to start these payments right away, or defer them.  And they can be made to one or two people.

  • Your church or favorite ministry(ies) receive a gift right away.  Or, money can be placed in your CFT Giving Fund, which you can use later to recommend distributions to charities.

Benefits of a CGA with CFT
There are many benefits of establishing a CGA with CFT, including:

  • Immediate tax deductions.  You generally qualify for an immediate tax deduction for a portion of the contribution that funds your CGA.

  • Regular payments.  A CGA produces a fixed payment for life with rates generally higher than CDs.  A portion of the income is often tax-free.

  • Christian values.  In establishing a charitable gift annuity through CFT, you can rest assured that your gift will ultimately be directed to ministries and charities that operate in accordance with Christian values.

  • Flexibility.  You can use a single CGA to recommend grants to multiple charities.  And unlike a trust, you may establish a CGA without a lawyer (though it is always a good idea to seek legal and tax advice from your professional advisor).

Giving hope to a young child ... just one of the many ways that individuals and families are furthering the Gospel of Jesus Christ through Charitable Gift Annuities.
